Teaching a Drawing Class in Denver, CO!!

Micron Pen Illustration – $65.00 Class

This class is designed to teach students/artists the core techniques of drawing in micron pen. This has been such a fun media to use in my own work and I want to be able to share the love for it with other artists. Students will learn the different ways to shade in pen including stippling, hatching, cross hatching and fill. After some warm up in getting familiar with the media, students will then begin to draw their own landscape pieces. These landscape pieces can be of ANYTHING students want from cityscapes to backwoods camping scenes. I always reccomend whatever you chose should be something personal, something that really hits home.

I will provide students with a variety of Micron Pens assorted by size. They will get familiar with working in different sizes including the brush pen, which dramatically changes the look of a line and shading. I will show through examples//demonstration how the use of a thick line can be used to help strengthen an illustration and the how the use of the smallest pen can create unimaginable detail. Students are welcome to make their work as minimal//detailed as desired. The point of this class is to master the understanding of technique with drawing in this media and apply it to your own individual style as an artist.

If you want to learn how to draw in pen, take this class…but I am warning you now, you will get addicted!

PRINTS, PRINTS, PRINTS

One of my 2018 goals is to make more of my original work available in print form. I have recently put in an order for 10 new images of mine to be available by print instead of Original only.

I want every type of interested buyer to be able to purchase Rashelle Stetman Art. That is the most important element of what I do in the end. Now I am making it happen.

Here are a couple examples of the pieces that will become available by print!

Stay tuned!

STUDIO MOVE

Working from the Dry Ice Factory was such an incredible experience, I will miss it so much and the other artists that were part of that space. Sometimes you just have to trust your gut if it keeps telling you something.

Needing to have more space was becoming more apparent. Being in my old studio again opens doors for what I can do in one single space. My process when I create goes through several stages using several different mediums.

The steps in my process of building one of my works is pretty similar each time, but always growing with new ways of accomplishing things. Sanding the wood is the first step. Then comes selective staining. I stain specific sections of the wood and then begin sketching the figure in pencil. From this point, I will go back and fourth staining and drawing. At this step in my process, I am trying to allow the piece tell me if the figure should be light on a dark background or dark on a light background. It ALWAYS needs to be one or the other to help the figure stand out and not get lost.

At the end of the drawing process I seal the work with a archival spray holding all media to the wood making it unable to smear or smudge.

People have asked me what my process looks like so I wanted to be able to put it into words.

2018 READY

Its 2018! Are you ready for it!?

How do you plan to start this new year? For me, beyond writing out goals for this year, I am thoroughly making an effort to push myself in all areas of my life. I want to be a better person. I want to be a better artist. I want to be better. I want to take on NEW avenues in my artistic career that introduces me to new groups of people and places I am unfamiliar with.

Throughout the last four years, I have met so many incredible beings. From people I work with to other artists I have connected with, I never am bored with inspiration. So much of my inspiration comes from the people I meet, and get to create with. Another place my inspiration comes from is traveling between Denver and California. I have done four trips this last year, each meeting new people and going different places. I have grown through this as an individual. Getting to know yourself on the open road is truly an experience in itself. Its a lot of time to yourself to do some self reflection and analyze where you’d like to go next.

This year is going to be a big one, I can feel it, and I hope it is for you too!
